South Carolina Clean Marina Program

The goal of the South Carolina Clean Marina Program is to protect and improve local water quality by reducing pollution from marinas.

This voluntary certification program recognizes marinas, boatyards, and yacht clubs for helping create a cleaner marine environment in South Carolina.

Certify or Recertify Your Marina October 19, 2026

Are you interested in becoming certified or recertified as a South Carolina Clean Marina?

Join the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium, the Clean Marina Technical Team, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services for a certification training for marina owners, managers, and staff on October 19, 2026.

The S.C. Clean Marina Program is a voluntary certification program that recognizes marinas for helping to create a cleaner marine environment in South Carolina by implementing best practices to protect and improve local water quality. Workshop participants will learn about the program, the steps to certification, and how to get their marinas ready for site visits.

This training class is required for certification and recertification. The workshop will be held at the SCDNR Outdoor Classroom located at 412-418 Fort Johnson Rd, Charleston, S.C. 29412.

Registration is required, and the cost is $100. For marinas new to the program, this fee can be applied toward the total cost of S.C. Clean Marina certification ($250). For marinas already part of the program, the $100 registration fee covers the recertification process.
